Who is M.R.Reese
M. R. Reese is an Austrian science fiction author writing in English.
His stories focus on humanity finding its place among the stars—usually through an inconvenient mixture of diplomacy, stubbornness, scientific curiosity, and very questionable engineering decisions.
A former UN peacekeeper, Reese has a particular interest in military organization, logistics, politics, technology, and the people caught up in them. Rather than beginning with humanity as an unstoppable interstellar power, his Upward Bound series asks a different question: how did humanity become that species?
Upward Bound follows humanity and its allies from occupation and rebellion toward an increasingly complicated future among the stars. The series combines HFY, military science fiction, first contact, alien politics, and technology grounded—where possible—in real scientific ideas.
When not writing, Reese has a habit of turning five-minute research questions into three-hour investigations.
